Edo State Police command has confirmed a Motor Accident/ Fire Incident along Benin/ Akure Road by Owan Bridge, Sobe Town in Owan West Local Government Area Of Edo State.
The confirmation was contained in a press release issued by the command on Saturday, 19th November, 2022.

According to the release, the Commissioner Of Police, Edo State Command, CP Mohammed Dankwara, visited the scene of Accident to assess the damage caused to houses and other properties and to Sympathize with the victims of the inferno.
The CP who was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ekiadolor Division, CSP Isah Nasiru Hamisu, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, and other officers.

On arrival, the CP met the Divisional Officer Sobe Division, CSP Joshua Esiolee who conducted the CP round the areas affected by the Fire.
During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the Tanker Driver was coming from Benin City heading to the Northern States.
The investigation also revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle along Benin/ Akure Road by Owan Bridge and skilled off the Road, spilling its contents being Petroleum Products(A.G.O), caught fire and burnt down five houses, four kiosk on the Expressway.

Other properties destroyed are: one Sienna Car, one Audi Car, one Motorcycle and some unestimated items but no life was lost and no one was injured.
The CP while sympathizing with the victims, informed them that the State Government is aware of the unfortunate incident and something needs to be done.

He thanked Okhomu Oil Company Fire fighters for extinguishing the Fire, stating that this patriotic act is in line with the Community Policing philosophy of the Inspector General Of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman.
