The Center for Gender Studies and Women Development, Edo State Polytechnic Usen has held a lecture to commemorate the 2022 international day of the girl child with the theme; “ Our time is now, our right, our future.”
The guest speaker at the event, Miss Oriarewo Eromosele Precious, a gender adovacate from the University of Benin, emphasized on the need for the society to protect every girl from unnecessary assault.
She called on all relevant authorities to increase attention on issues that matter to the girl child.
She also adovacated for more opportunities for girls to have their voices heard on the global stage.

The Director of the Center for Gender Studies and Women Development, Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, Barr. (Mrs.) Esther Oriarewo appreciated all the participants at the lecture.
She stated that the vision of the Center for Gender Studies and Women Development, Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, is to change the narrative of the society towards the girl child by giving a voice in the society.
She noted that the girl child around the world are to faced with unprecedented challenges to their education, their physical and mental wellness, and urged all concerned stakeholders to stand up and invest in a future of the girl child for a better society.

Oriarewo said that Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, through its Center for Gender Studies and Women Development will continue to give the girl child the right to exist and contribute positively in solving societal problems.

She also added that the girl child’s future, lies in their hands and it is their duty to make the world a better place by surmounting every challenges.
The lecture was attended by staff and students of the Polytechnic.
