The head coach of Plateau United, Abdul Maikaba has congratulated the coach Rivers United, Stanley Eguma after the Port Harcourt club was crowned the champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League for the first time.
Rivers United were confirmed champions of the 2021/22 season after Plateau United fell 2-1 to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium last Saturday.
The loss gave the Stanley Eguma-led side an unquestionable 10 points lead at the top of the league table.

Rivers United eventually lost 2-1 to Nasarawa United on Sunday but the club already had done enough to lay claim of the title.
As a follow up on the win , Maikaba took to Twitter to congratulate his rival.
This is the first time Rivers United which was formed in 2016 from the merger of Sharks and Dolphins football clubs, is winning the League trophy.
Rivers United currently have 71 points from 35 games, while Plateau United is on 61 points after 35 games played.
There is a maximum of 9 points to play for with only 3 games left to play in the current season.
